The six faces of the cube are constructed from links in a Möbius kaleidoscope mechanism. With each face mapped to a separate link, the box’s entirety changes during the opening process, revealing its contents in one fluid motion. Its single degree of freedom motion creates a smooth, satisfying movement that continues to fascinate even years after its launch.
Inside the ring box’s aluminum mechanism, a velvet-wrapped foam pad is mounted to hold the box’s contents. When closed, the pad’s segmented design wraps around the ring, holding it securely in place. When opened, the foam pad flattens while continuing to securely grip the ring.
